DAC or Decentralized Autonomous Communities are the main components of the UTU.ONE app. DACs take the concept of DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) and expand it further by stressing the value of community and maximizing the collective output.
In this guide, you will learn how to join a DAC, why you should do it, and how to join one.
You can think of DACs on UTU.ONE as online communities that work together to achieve a common objective and where the successes are shared among members and everyone benefits and grows together.
DACs can fall under many categories: Fan pages, entertainment, e-commerce businesses, not-for-profits DACs, investments DACs, educational, repositories, private groups, projects, gaming, etc.
Imagine you join a Facebook group about golf. There you will find a lot of people that share your interests. They will share memes, stories, news, tips, etc. But how can you quantify the social value of that community? The number of likes, posts and comments, is a good start but we need other metrics.
How can this community improve if it becomes a DAC? For starters, the token price and market cap can be used to quantify the value of the community, given that they tell you how much value has been generated by the members of the DAC.
This community would also have a way to recognize the top members and administrators via token rewards. This way content would be constantly curated and more good quality content will be shared (quality>quantity). Further, the DAC administrators (a.k.a. custodians) could use smart contracts to create tasks and spark collaboration among members, monitor engagement and member retention.
Since all DACs are on the blockchain, all transactions are visible to anyone. So transparency regarding token allocation would not be a problem.
Finally, all DACs on UTU.ONE can enable the marketplace function which allows members to create and sell NFTs. The golf fans DAC members can take advantage of this feature to create and sell merch, golf courses, etc.
This is just a small example of how a fan page community can leverage the power of DAO and become DAC, but there can be DACs about virtually anything, so let your imagination free and think creatively, you can also reach out to us if you want some inspiration.
Now let’s look at how to join a DAC.
First, choose a DAC from the public DAC list that you would like to join and click it.

The only requirement to join a DAC is to hold some of its tokens, but since this is your first time in the DAC you will need to first buy some tokens to unlock its content. For that, you need to click on the circle icon above the token name.
